If you are a user of SAi FlexiSIGN-PRO, you have likely encountered the phrase "Untitled 1" plastered across the top of your design window immediately after launching the program. For new users, this can sometimes be a source of confusion—is it an error? A template? A glitch?
In reality, "Untitled 1" is simply the default label for a new, unsaved document. Much like opening Microsoft Word yields "Document1" or Adobe Photoshop yields "Untitled-1," FlexiSIGN uses this label to let you know you have a fresh canvas ready for your vinyl cutting or wide-format printing project.
However, confusion often arises when this window doesn't look the way the user expects, or when the program crashes while trying to generate this default window. Here is a breakdown of how to manage this feature and troubleshoot common issues.
For comparison:
Flexi’s behavior is in the middle — not the worst, but not the best.
Consider the case of a print shop in Phoenix (name withheld for privacy). An operator designed a 12-foot vehicle wrap over five hours. He never saved the file — it remained "untitled 1" in Flexi. When he sent it to the Summa cutter, the Production Manager crashed. He rebooted Flexi, clicked “No” on recovery, and lost everything. The job required a complete redesign and overtime pay.
Lesson: Always rename "untitled 1" within the first 5 minutes. Use Ctrl+S as a nervous tic. flexisign pro untitled 1
Some Windows users report that double-clicking a .fs file opens Flexi but then shows "untitled 1" instead of the actual file. This usually points to a broken file association or a corrupt workspace XML.
Your design in "Untitled 1" is not backed by a physical file. One bad plugin, one low-memory condition, and FlexiSign Pro’s auto-save feature (if enabled) may not capture the latest changes because it has no destination file path.
Symptom: You try to save, but FlexiSign Pro freezes or gives an error: "Cannot save file. Access denied." Cause: Permission issues, or the file path is too long (Windows limitation). Solution: Understanding "Untitled 1" in FlexiSIGN-PRO: A Guide to
C:\Jobs\.Ctrl + A, then Ctrl + C) and paste them into a brand new FlexiSign window. Then save immediately.A small number of FlexiSIGN Pro users experience a startup crash where the software freezes at "Loading workspace: untitled 1." This is often due to a corrupted workspace XML file.
The Fix:
%localappdata%\SAi\FlexiSIGN Pro\Workspacesdefault_workspace.xml and untitled1_workspace.xml.Warning: This resets your toolbar layout and palette positions, but it eliminates the crash. Flexi’s behavior is in the middle — not
